Yay!! Our chooks are finally laying. Gran-Nan had the trick - place a fake egg in their nesting box....then wait one night. Then BINGO!! 3 eggs for a long weekend... That equals a big cooked breakfast for Anzac Day holiday for the 3 big kids!

A lesson .......
These days it is so easy to get everything you want instantly. Yes. i could have bought point-of-lay hens but i didn't. I wanted my children to learn something. And that something was delayed gratification. They had to learn to care for the chicks from 1 day old and feed, water and nurture them. To clip their wings so they wouldn't fly the coup, to build a nesting box, so many things over the last 5months and today they were rewarded. A bit like life really.....and raising children. How do you teach your children about delayed gratification? And is this important to you?
