A NYE of Olde....

We spent a very HOT (40 deg C) New Years Eve in our backyard with 2 other families - enjoying the bliss of full clean water tanks, a hose, a slide and a wading pool. After 10 years of drought - and my children never knowing the fun of playing with water in the backyard, i decided it was time to show them how WE use to have fun on hot days. I also purchased some cheap spray bottles and filled them with water to squirt everyone with - i think the adults had just as much fun as the children!!! It certainly assisted in staying cool! I did feel sorry for our friends from England - they're first experience of extreme heat!!

We had a cold meal too - it was just too hot to fire up the BBQ. So cold chicken and salads and bread it was! With ice cream cones for dessert of course!!

The Girls took to lying on the trampoline and gazing at the sky trying to see shapes and pictures in the clouds! The Boys spent HOURS on the waterslide and then jumped the girls off the trampoline to play a game of rugby (or similar!!)

Around 9pm when it was starting to get dark we got out some glow sticks (we couldn't use sparklers because of the fire ban and number of children) and put on some music for a dance!! The kids had a ball and the adults were content just to sit and watch!!

FUN FUN FUN!!! Welcome 2011!

a Christmas Week in pictures

Christmas Day 2010

Surprise - Open your eyes - it's a big boy bike!

Miss Tessa baking with Mummy...cheeky monkey ;)

On Boxing Day it is now our tradition to take the train into the city to see the Myer Windows and have a walk and picnic lunch beside the Yarra. This year we did it on the public holiday which was SUCH a beautiful day.

Look who loved the train ride~

The Nativity Scene

"The Nutcracker" themed windows this year much to the girls' delight

The park beside the Yarra lends itself to our adventurous children!! Steep slides, rock-climbing, rock-hopping and a leisurely hammock swing for miss Tess.

Billy-cart building with Pa! I'm not sure about the billycart riding bit especially with our driveway. I think i've seen enough of the insides of hospitals in the last year!

Boxing Day breakfast of pancakes with berry compote (thanks to pavlova extras from Christmas Day!) Mmmmmm......

And my dear Husband home for the whole week to enjoy all of this with me...

= BLISS xoxo
