We spent a very HOT (40 deg C) New Years Eve in our backyard with 2 other families - enjoying the bliss of full clean water tanks, a hose, a slide and a wading pool. After 10 years of drought - and my children never knowing the fun of playing with water in the backyard, i decided it was time to show them how WE use to have fun on hot days. I also purchased some cheap spray bottles and filled them with water to squirt everyone with - i think the adults had just as much fun as the children!!! It certainly assisted in staying cool! I did feel sorry for our friends from England - they're first experience of extreme heat!!
We had a cold meal too - it was just too hot to fire up the BBQ. So cold chicken and salads and bread it was! With ice cream cones for dessert of course!!
The Girls took to lying on the trampoline and gazing at the sky trying to see shapes and pictures in the clouds! The Boys spent HOURS on the waterslide and then jumped the girls off the trampoline to play a game of rugby (or similar!!)
Around 9pm when it was starting to get dark we got out some glow sticks (we couldn't use sparklers because of the fire ban and number of children) and put on some music for a dance!! The kids had a ball and the adults were content just to sit and watch!!
FUN FUN FUN!!! Welcome 2011!
Hi Christy
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all had a wonderful time there! We spent the evening at a friends house, but because we had had so much rain the mozzies were out in full force & so we ended up leaving around 10:30pm, but we still stayed up & watched the fireworks, we just did some on the kitchen before they were on!
Hope you are having a wonderful holiday with your beautiful family!
Renata:)
